Our "eel team" leaded by Amandine Sabadel has started the planning of their next oceanographic expedition. In October 2024, they will embark on a 35-day mission aboard the NIWA research vessel Tangaroa to collect data that could help us understand a big mystery in marine biology. Different samples will be gathered (zooplantkon, environmental DNA, particulate organic matter...etc) from temperate to tropical latitudes of the Pacific ocean to track the migration of Aotearoa New Zealand eels. Before leaving, it's a logistical race to acquire sampling permits in the various countries they'll be crossing, prepare the required equipment and make sure everyone is ready.
